A dialogue between dance and the urban flux.
The city is characterized by its prag- matic flows and motion.
Unlike the city, dance generates movement out of an attitude of
bodily awareness.
The design -a place for dance- is linked to the network of the
under- ground by which a symbiosis between both will arise. On the
one hand, the dance-function will illuminate the dark underground
image and on the other hand, dance as an artistic form will become
more accessible because of its implementation in the public space.
To strengthen the dialogue between both the city and dance, these
four subfunctions -creation (CR), practice (DA), presentation (VO)
and meeting (ON)- will be added to different undergroundstops. In
so doing, the 'internal' circulation will be the same as the one of
the public underground-network. The staircase -seen as archetype
and most dynamic element- will be explored and manipulated by its
motionpaterns. A place of dance becomes a place for dance.
